The Bombasel Lakes are one of the most iconic landmarks in the Val di Fiemme. As you approach from the Adige Valley, the first glimpses of the Val di Fiemme are filled with the vibrant green of its forests, a perfect introduction to a territory rich in lush coniferous forests. For centuries, the forest heritage of this part of Trentino has served as both an excellent source of livelihood for local families and a captivating scenic vista. Unfortunately, in recent times, the Vaia storm and the subsequent invasion of the red spruce bark beetle have been a devastating sight and heartbreak for these places.
Fiemme Valley, of glacial origin, offers much more to those who are curious and reveals special places. Particularly, a day with azure skies provides an excellent opportunity to venture onto the left bank of the valley and explore the wild landscapes of the Lagorai mountain group. In this less humanized environment, the Bombasel Lakes, nestled among towering peaks, come in various shapes and sizes, but they all share unforgettable hues of color.

How to reach Bombasel Lakes
The modest effort is immediately rewarded by the gentle shapes and colors of the Bombasel meadows, framed by the peaks of the Lagorai group. The plural in the name of this place refers to the numerous bodies of water. The largest one, with its mirror-like reflection of the sky’s shades, provides a spot along its shores to pause for a snack or, for those opting to spend the entire day, a packed lunch. More ambitious hikers can then continue on the via ferrata that leads to the summit overseeing the little lakes.
